VOLUNTEER

Volunteer at the Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley would like to thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with our organization. This page is intended to give you a general overview of positions available, along with some general information. A person's reasons for volunteering are as varied as the number of positions available. The bottom line, however, is to make a positive difference in a child's life.

Guidelines & Rules

All new volunteers are required to go through a formal application and interview process. Volunteers are required to provide personal references, as well as, agree to a CORI & SORI background check. The following are general guidelines and rules for volunteers.

As with all staff, volunteers are asked to be dependable and punctual and to call well ahead of time when you are unable to keep your commitment.

Volunteers are asked to provide guidance to our members through positive role-modeling.  Formal contact with members outside the Club is not permitted. Volunteers are prohibited from giving members rides in their personal vehicles.

Volunteers are asked to inform the Director of Operations of any guidance issues with a member, which goes beyond his/her scope or limits of expertise. All issues of physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect must be reported to the Executive Director.

The Club has a very strict hands-off policy with respect to all discipline and guidance carried out by Club staff and volunteers.

For the safety of the volunteer, all volunteer/member contacts should be conducted in an open area within view of Club staff. Don't put yourself in a position of compromise!

Come in with a smile!
